Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung Announces Physical AI Vision at San Francisco AI Summit

Hyundai Motor Group’s executive chair, Euisun Chung, laid out a Physical AI roadmap at the San Francisco AI Summit, linking autonomous driving, robotics, and data infrastructure to intelligence at the city level. Speaking at an event held in San Francisco on July 25, 2026, Chung said the automaker is evolving beyond traditional manufacturing to become a “Physical AI solution company.” The group plans to use manufacturing competitiveness and robotics capabilities centered on Boston Dynamics, while building a “data flywheel” that connects real-world operational data to ongoing AI model improvement. Partnerships are also a central pillar, including planned collaboration with NVIDIA and Waymo and a strategy involving Boston Dynamics’ relationship with Google DeepMind. Hyundai said it will work with NVIDIA on a Robot Reference Platform combining its Physical AI capabilities with NVIDIA’s. The company also referenced investments in Saemangeum AI Valley and future hubs in Korea’s Yeongnam region.
