Hyundai recalls more than 94,000 vehicles over fire risk

Hyundai is recalling 94,622 vehicles over a fire risk tied to overheating motors on powered front seats. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the front seat slide and height adjustment switch used on non-memory power seats may become dislodged or damaged if subjected to external force. If the switch remains engaged, the seat adjustment motor could run continuously even after the occupant exits. Prolonged operation may overheat, increasing the risk of a fire while driving or parked. Affected vehicles are 39,978 2017–2020 Genesis G80 sedans and 54,644 2015–2016 Hyundai Genesis sedans. Hyundai estimates 1% are defective; a remedy is in development.
