Hyundai recalls more than 94,000 vehicles over fire risk
xCruzo Brief
Hyundai is recalling 94,622 vehicles due to a fire risk linked to the overheating of motors used on powered front seats. The issue involves a seat slide and height adjustment control switch on non-memory power seats that may become dislodged or damaged; if it stays engaged, the seat adjustment motor can run continuously even after the occupant exits. NHTSA says prolonged operation can overheat the motor and increase the risk of a fire while driving or parked. Affected vehicles include 39,978 2017–2020 Genesis G80 sedans and 54,644 2015–2016 Hyundai Genesis sedans. Hyundai estimates 1% have the defect. Repairs are in development; owners will get free service and are told to park away from other vehicles until fixed.
