xCruzo Brief
Rwanda has signed a 10-year deal with Formula 1 to host international racing events using F1-style cars starting in early 2030. The races will be branded as “African Grand Prix” and return to Africa after more than 30 years, with South Africa the last host in 1993. Economist Teddy Kaberuka says the agreement’s biggest upside for Rwanda will be through tourism. He argues that large numbers of wealthy fans would visit, stay in hotels, tour local attractions and spend significantly. The venue is planned for a new circuit in Bugesera, about 40km south of Kigali.
