Isla Vista Man, 22, Killed in Motorcycle Crash on Highway 101

A fatal motorcycle crash on Highway 101 in Goleta ended with the death of a 22-year-old man from Isla Vista, according to California Highway Patrol. Northbound traffic through Goleta was reduced to one lane on Monday evening after the multi-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle, a Tesla, and another vehicle. Dylan Monson died Monday after being ejected from his motorcycle, a 2015 BMW, during the crash south of Glen Annie Road, CHP said. CHP reported that Monson was lane-splitting and traveling at high speed before the motorcycle collided with the guardrail on the right shoulder. First responders from CHP, Santa Barbara County Fire, the Sheriff’s Office, and American Medical Response responded at about 4:15 p.m. AMR pronounced Monson dead at the scene, and no other injuries were reported. All lanes reopened Tuesday; the investigation is ongoing.
