Jorge Martin declared fit to race in Malaysian GP after FP1
Jorge Martin received medical clearance to continue at the Malaysian Grand Prix after FP1 at Sepang on Friday. Although MotoGP’s doctor Angel Charte had initially declared him fit on Thursday, Martin underwent further evaluation following the first practice session due to the right wrist he broke in his Phillip Island sprint crash last Saturday. After Charte was satisfied with the assessment, he cleared Martin to race. Around midday—less than half an hour after FP1 ended—Aprilia confirmed in a statement that “Jorge Martin has been declared fit to race at the Malaysian GP.” Martin nevertheless faces a steep task to close the gap after finishing 20th in FP1, 1.8 seconds behind Marc Marquez. Raul Fernandez also withdrew with a finger injury after only two laps.
