Just Like His Pop"- NASCAR World Unites in Support of Brexton Busch After Father Kyle's Devastating Loss
Brexton Busch returned to racing rapidly after the May 21, 2026 death of his father, NASCAR wins leader Kyle Busch, and the story has drawn widespread attention in the sport. Kyle died at age 41 after bacterial pneumonia developed into sepsis. Eighteen days later, on June 8, Brexton ran at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the Young Lions division, starting 13th and finishing sixth. In late June, he qualified deeper in the 11th position and advanced to second by Lap 13, chasing leader Landon Thrasher after jumpstart penalties removed Parker Ives and Sam Macedo. The race ended early when a time limit froze the field; Thrasher won and Brexton was second, with others completing the top five. Fans and NASCAR figures noted Brexton’s mannerisms and the “Rowdy 1985-2026” decals on his No. 18 car. Richard Childress said the No. 8 Cup car is being held for Brexton, when appropriate.
