Marcus Rashford: Man United star flops in spite of passage to last 16
Marcus Rashford received a mixed World Cup outing for Manchester United, with the winger criticized in the context of England’s progression to the last 16. The report says Rashford started again as England faced the Democratic Republic of Congo, after Kobbie Mainoo and Senne Lammens remained on the bench and England’s route to the Round of 16 was already set. England conceded early, falling behind in the seventh minute, but won 2-1 with two goals from Harry Kane. Rashford played 60 minutes and recorded zero key passes and did not connect with any cross attempts, despite making 100% of his passes. He had three shots on goal, including two that were classified as big chances missed, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka cleared an effort that would have leveled the match. Anthony Gordon set up both of Kane’s goals, and Rashford will now watch his place as England plays Mexico on Monday morning BST.
