Kansas woman convicted of double murder after three trials
Dana Chandler has spent decades maintaining her innocence in relation to the 2002 murders of her ex-husband, Mike Sisco, and his girlfriend, Karen Harkness. The case has been tried multiple times, and in 2025 Chandler represented herself in the third trial brought by the state. The story, originally aired May 31, 2025 and updated July 11, 2026, recounts how family members—including Sisco and Harkness’s daughter, Hailey Seel—have continued seeking answers. Hailey learned of the killings on July 7, 2002, after police and tape surrounded Harkness’ home in Topeka, Kansas. Surveillance footage showed Sisco and Harkness leaving a casino around 1:30 a.m. and stopping for coffee, the last time video captured Harkness alive. Lead detective Richard Volle testified in earlier coverage that police received a report of two bodies in a basement shortly after 2:00 a.m. and that Harkness was struck by multiple bullets.
