Kia is recalling 462,869 Telluride SUVs again because it says a previous repair did not fully eliminate a potential fire risk. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said that an external impact with force to the front power-seat side cover or seat slide knob could damage the power seat switch. NHTSA also warned that a misaligned or damaged seat switch—or an incorrect recall repair—might allow continued operation of a seat motor, which can overheat and raise the risk of a fire either while driving or while parked. The recall covers certain 2020–2024 Telluride vehicles manufactured from January 9, 2019, to May 29, 2024. Owners will be notified by first-class mail and instructed to bring vehicles to Kia dealerships, where technicians will install an electronic fuse assembly to prevent continuous motor operation. Kia will reimburse owners for certain repair fees through a General Reimbursement Plan filed April 30, 2026.
