Two people died in separate weekend crashes on Idaho highways, according to Idaho State Police. In the first incident, around 11:20 a.m. Sunday on U.S. Highway 95 near Sandpoint in Bonner County, a 40-year-old man from Ponderay driving a Honda Fit pulled over to let a Toyota Tacoma pass. As the vehicles moved alongside each other, they made contact, sending the Tacoma across the center line to collide with a southbound GMC Sierra driven by a 66-year-old woman. A Subaru Forester behind the GMC then struck the pickup from behind; the GMC driver died at the scene. Police said the westbound lanes of I-184 were closed for nearly four hours after the second crash, where a 29-year-old Boise man rear-ended a 2015 Toyota Highlander near mile marker 3. The Toyota’s 49-year-old passenger died later of injuries, with all occupants wearing seat belts, and both crashes remain under investigation.
