Kurt Busch Reveals Where He Still Feels Closest to Brother Kyle
Months after Kyle Busch’s death, Kurt Busch says the strongest connection to his younger brother still comes from inside a race car. The NASCAR Hall of Famer shared his grief and memories during a conversation with Anderson Cooper for CNN’s “All There Is” podcast. Before practice, Kurt described getting into an old car about a half-hour early to sit, talk quietly to himself and pray “with him,” saying he “checks in” when he climbs in. He also reflected on their sibling bond—six years apart, marked by rivalry but eventual collaboration—plus Kyle’s role in Kurt’s last NASCAR Cup Series win. Kurt won at Kansas Speedway in May 2022 driving for 23XI Racing after Kyle lifted on the backstretch to allow Kurt to continue pursuing Kyle Larson, then told him “I know.”
