Land Rover and Stellantis are reportedly planning a U.S.-built Defender pickup, using Stellantis support rather than shifting existing Jaguar Land Rover production. The collaboration is aimed at avoiding the 25% “Chicken Tax” that applies to imported pickup trucks, and the vehicle could target buyers comparable to the Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster and the Jeep Gladiator. Land Rover and Stellantis signed a memorandum of understanding in May to explore U.S. product development, with the agreement expected to be finalized by the end of the year. No technical details have been disclosed, including engine sourcing.
