LAPD Street Takeover Crackdown Detains Hundreds - STL.News
A large LAPD-led operation targeting an illegal street takeover in the Los Angeles area early Saturday reportedly detained hundreds of people and led to scores of vehicles being targeted for towing. Officers responded after receiving calls about the gathering around 3:37 a.m., near the intersection of South Figueroa Street and West Alondra Boulevard, on the border between Los Angeles’ Harbor Gateway area and West Rancho Dominguez. Reports cited the LAPD, California Highway Patrol, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. One outlet, citing scene information, said authorities detained about 300 racers and spectators and targeted roughly 100 vehicles, but the figures were described as preliminary. The LAPD had not released final arrest and impound numbers by early Saturday.
