Lucid Cosmos design revealed in patent filing ahead of 2026 launch

Lucid has formalized the Cosmos design in an EU patent-style filing, providing the clearest look yet at its first sub‑$50,000 crossover. EU Registered Community Design No. 015142895 was filed by Atieva Inc., Lucid's legal entity, on May 22 and published on June 15, exposing production-ready sheet metal from every angle. The 100 individual views do not include the name Cosmos, but match the crossover Lucid showcased at its March Investor Day as the first model on its new midsize platform. Earlier sightings placed a camouflaged Cosmos testing beside a Tesla Model Y near Lucid's facilities in May, reinforcing the timing.

Design cues echo a shrunken Gravity, with a full-width front light bar and cab-forward stance, but the nose features a larger Lucid emblem. The side profile is softer with a sharply raked roofline, while the tail carries 'LUCID' lettering and a bold bumper. The filing hints at multiple trims, including a performance variant, claiming 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds. Inside, the TrailSport offers a departure from the Air and Gravity layouts with a single, wide dashboard display. Lucid’s autonomy ambitions—midsize platform vehicles serving as robotaxis under its Uber partnership—underscore the Cosmos’s strategic significance.
