Man Fatally Shot In Ford City Mall Parking Lot, Police Say

A 21-year-old man was fatally shot in the Ford City Mall parking lot early Saturday, police said, as investigators piece together a violent scene. Martin Isaac Cantu Murillo, of South Bend, Indiana, was shot in the head around 2:50 a.m. and died at Christ Hospital about seven hours later. Video shows revelers circling a car when a person in black produced a gun and fled in a red SUV. The Ford City Mall, which is set to close June 22 due to deteriorating conditions, had already witnessed several departures, prompting alderman Derek Curtis to label the site a safety concern and advocate for a sale to a buyer who will prioritize security.
