Marc Marquez leads calls for Assen gravel trap changes after Dutch GP crashes
Marc Marquez leads calls for Assen gravel trap changes after Dutch GP crashes reports that Marc Marquez is pushing for changes to gravel traps at TT Circuit Assen after several serious incidents during the MotoGP Dutch Grand Prix. The weekend is described as among the most action-packed of the 2026 season, but also marked by high-profile crashes, including Fermin Aldeguer being ruled out for the rest of the summer after breaking a vertebra in practice. Marco Bezzecchi was taken to hospital on Sunday after a high-speed crash on lap 2, after losing the front end of his Aprilia at Turn 15. Marquez, whose own small FP1 crash occurred at Turn 16, argued that the current run-off areas allow riders to be launched into the air at speed. Honda’s Luca Marini added that Bezzecchi appeared “really lucky” not to hit the wall and called for extending the run-off at Turn 15 ahead of Sachsenring.
