Martin recovers from early setback to win Austrian sprint and retake championship lead
xCruzo Brief
Jorge Martin bounced back from a chaotic start to win the Austrian MotoGP sprint from pole position on Saturday and retake the championship lead. The Aprilia rider had set pole ahead of Marc Marquez, but an opening-lap battle went wrong when he ran wide and dropped to eighth as Marquez forced him into defense. KTM’s Pedro Acosta then took control with nearly a three-second advantage before crashing out with about three laps remaining. Martin clawed his way through to secure his 20th sprint win, with Marquez second and Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi completing the podium. Martin leads on 286 points, three ahead of Marquez.
