Maverick Vinales accuses KTM of leaving him in limbo: "I don't even know where I stand
Maverick Viñales says KTM has left him in limbo as it weighs whether to exercise its option to extend his Tech3 contract for a third season or release him. A contract clause bars him from signing with another team until the end of the month, giving KTM a final decision window. The Spaniard is currently recovering from a shoulder injury sustained at last summer's German Grand Prix, which has complicated his form as Brno hosts the Czech Republic round. From Brno, Viñales expressed frustration at the uncertainty and noted his loyalty, saying he could have signed with another team during the winter but chose not to.
Viñales has completed 12 MotoGP seasons, racing for four manufacturers and recording wins with Suzuki, Yamaha, and Aprilia; KTM remains the only brand without a victory for him. He says his future depends entirely on KTM and Bajaj's plans, and hinted he could be ready to perform in two months once he is fully fit. He will miss Monday's Brno post-race test for the 2027 prototype, which features an 850cc engine and Pirelli tyres, with Pedro Acosta slated to test ahead of him.
