Strong winds across Michigan on Friday knocked down trees and power lines, leaving more than 300,000 residents without electricity by 9:30 a.m. Saturday, according to DTE. The outages were primarily attributed to downed trees, while DTE had restored service to about 93,000 customers between Friday night and Saturday morning. Consumers Energy reported power restoration for around 20,000 customers, but about 10% of DTE customers and 5% of Consumers Energy customers still faced outages. DTE said it had about 500 crew members working overnight and aimed to restore 60% of customers by Saturday, and 95% by Monday. Outages affected parts of metro Detroit, including Detroit suburbs such as Dearborn, Madison Heights, and Warren.
