Million Vehicles Now Under Probe For GM Brake Failure

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has expanded its probe of GM’s eBoost brake system to an engineering analysis covering about 1,164,820 vehicles across multiple GM, Honda and Acura model lines. The agency logged 745 eBoost failure reports, including 22 crashes or fires and six injuries, with no deaths reported. This stage comes after a preliminary evaluation opened in April 2024 following complaints about losing brake assist on the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq. NHTSA can use the analysis as the final step before forcing a recall. Covered models range from Cadillac EVs to Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX.
