MotoGP San Marino GP: Marc Marquez wins to take points lead, Marco Bezzecchi crashes out

Marc Marquez turned an opening-lap crash into a San Marino Grand Prix victory and moved to the top of the MotoGP standings. Reigning world champion Marquez benefited when title rival Marco Bezzecchi, who started on pole for the Aprilia, slid out at Turn 12 after trying to fend him off at Turn 1. Marquez then held off Jorge Martin and Alex Marquez, as Martin’s pace dropped and he finished fifth. Pedro Acosta completed the podium. Marquez and Martin are level on 274 points, but Marquez leads on countback due to more race wins. It was Marquez’s fifth win of the season.
