Motorcyclist dies in collision with car on A171 near Fylingdales

A motorcyclist died in a collision with a car on the A171 near Fylingdales in North Yorkshire, North Yorkshire Police said. The crash occurred shortly after 18:00 BST on 15 September near Helwath Beck, between Whitby and Scarborough. It involved a black Volvo XC40 and a black and white Triumph Daytona motorcycle. Police said the biker, a man in his 30s from Whitby, died at the scene. The Volvo driver, a woman in her 40s, suffered minor injuries that did not require hospital treatment. Officers interviewed her under caution and are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.
