Musk says Tesla will end Cybertruck production in 2027
xCruzo Brief
Elon Musk said on X that Tesla will wind down Cybertruck production at its Texas factory by mid-2027, citing the need to “make room for increased Cybercab production.” Musk linked the shift to Tesla’s robotaxi ambitions, with the Cybercab positioned as a key next step. The change follows years of weak demand for the stainless-steel pickup, which launched in 2019 and entered commercial production in 2023. Wall Street analyst Dan Ives told CBS News the “writing was on the wall,” pointing to a high price and limited uptake. Tesla sold 20,237 Cybertrucks in 2025, down from 38,965 in 2024, amid quality issues and multiple recalls.
