New BYD Seagull Is A Big Deal

BYD has unveiled the revised Seagull in China, pushing its smallest EV up a size and technology step while keeping its value focus. Launched Tuesday, the car is now 4,205 mm long (+425 mm), 1,570 mm tall (-30 mm), and 1,810 mm wide (+95 mm). The wheelbase grows to 2,650 mm (+150 mm). Power rises to 95 kW (127 hp) and the drivetrain moves to rear-wheel drive with an independent multilink suspension. Kerb weight is kept tight at 1,180–1,255 kg. Battery sizes remain 30.1 kWh and 39.2 kWh, with CLTC ranges increased by 15 km to 320 km and 420 km. The standout feature is Flash Charging: 10–70% in 5 minutes and 10–97% in 9. BYD says it has 12,165 stations operating this year, targeting 20,000 by year-end.
