New driver for the No. 9 PNC Bank Honda as Chip Ganassi Racing signs Lundgaard for IndyCar

Christian Lundgaard will become the new driver of the No. 9 PNC Bank Honda after signing a multiyear contract with Chip Ganassi Racing. The Danish driver, 25, succeeds Scott Dixon. CGR announced the move Tuesday. Lundgaard is a three-time IndyCar race winner. PNC Bank has backed CGR since 2013 and has been the primary partner on the No. 9 car since 2018. In 2018, PNC chairman and CEO Bill Demchak said the partnership “extends our brand on a national basis.” The bank has since expanded its presence across the U.S. and celebrated six IndyCar championships with CGR, including two with the No. 9 team.
