Two drivers seriously injured in head-on crash near Oroville, CHP says
Two drivers were seriously injured in a head-on crash on State Route 162 near Oroville, according to CHP. The collision occurred just before 3 p.m. as a westbound Dodge pickup crossed into the eastbound lane near Wally B Lane. A woman in the Toyota SUV was trapped and required door- and steering wheel removal before being transported to a hospital. Her condition was described as stable, while the Dodge driver, a man, sustained moderate to major injuries. Emergency crews from Cal Fire, Butte County EMS, the sheriff's office, and Lake Oroville State Recreation Area responded. Investigators continue to determine why the Dodge crossed the center line as they review road conditions and driver statements. Both vehicles were disabled on SR 162 near Miners Ranch Road, and traffic was diverted while responders treated patients. The CHP urged motorists to slow down on rural highways and to report dangerous driving promptly to prevent similar crashes.
