Elk Grove man hit by vehicle dies, suspected hit-and-run driver arrested

An Elk Grove man died after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene on a weekend in Sacramento County, police said. The Elk Grove Police Department reported the collision occurred Saturday at about 8:45 p.m. near Grove Florin Road, north of Heritage Drive, where 47-year-old Jose Rangel Diosdado was found in the northbound lanes with life-threatening injuries. Authorities identified 35-year-old Demond Hunter as a suspect after reviewing calls for service. Police said Hunter was found north of Elk Grove city limits and located the minivan with hood damage, aligning with the crash report.
