Nissan Elgrand Adds ProPilot 2.0: Hands-Free Highway Driving Reaches Family Minivans

Nissan is bringing ProPilot 2.0, its hands-free highway driving feature, to its all-new flagship family minivan, the 2026 Elgrand. The company launched the model in Japan on July 16, 2026, and says it will use Dynamic Map Platform (DMP) data—centimeter-accurate 3D road geometry supplied to Nissan and five other automakers. DMP says ProPilot 2.0 relies on a shared HD mapping layer used by a fleet totaling 39 models across six manufacturers. ProPilot 2.0 sits above earlier ProPilot modes by enabling hands-free driving at full speed along a navigated route for extended stretches, autonomously managing speed, lane centering, and following in a single lane. When a lane change or pass is required, the system prompts the driver to put hands on the wheel, then executes after a turn-signal confirmation, while a driver-monitoring camera enforces attention.
