Nissan records profit of $24M in fiscal 1Q | Arkansas Democrat Gazette

Nissan returned to profit in its fiscal first quarter, reporting $24 million net income from April to June versus a roughly $737.7 million loss in the same period of 2025. The turnaround was supported by cost-cutting and sales growth in some markets. Nissan said quarterly sales rose to $19 billion, up 9.5% year on year from $17.2 billion. The company is still aiming to regain profitability for the fiscal year ending March 2027 after two years of heavy losses. CEO Ivan Espinosa cited momentum in cost reductions, but flagged challenges in parts of the Middle East and tough competition in China tied to EV momentum. Production was partly stalled after a 7.1 earthquake in Kumamoto, affecting 5,000 vehicles.
