Lando Norris ended his winless run with a victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday, taking his first win of 2026. He crossed the line 15.080 seconds ahead of Max Verstappen, with Kimi Antonelli completing the podium. Norris said the car was “unbelievable” and described relief after losing the lead at Turn 2 on the opening lap to Oscar Piastri, who initially controlled the race and stopped early to cover Charles Leclerc. Piastri later suffered a gearbox failure, triggering a Virtual Safety Car that reshaped the field and gave Norris a cushion he did not relinquish. Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton battled hard during the opening stint, while Verstappen’s soft-tire gamble for over 30 laps held up. Antonelli advanced after starting seventh despite three-place grid penalties for qualifying yellow-flag infringements, extending his championship lead.
