Ogura declared fit for MotoGP return at Austrian Grand Prix
Ai Ogura will return to MotoGP racing at this weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix at Spielberg after being cleared by medical staff. The Japanese rider broke a thumb in a training crash following the British Grand Prix in late August, then underwent surgery ahead of the Aragon round, causing him to miss both Aragon and the subsequent San Marino Grand Prix. His participation is now pending a final fitness check during Friday’s opening practice session. MotoGP medical personnel approved his restart after “intensive rehabilitation treatment in Barcelona,” according to Trackhouse. Despite the return, the article notes Ogura has fallen into a points deficit: 71 points behind the lead and sixth, with Marc Marquez now sharing the lead with Jorge Martin.
