Ogura seals landmark Dutch GP win, Bezzecchi crashes out
Trackhouse Racing’s Ai Ogura delivered a landmark Dutch MotoGP win at Assen on Sunday, overtaking teammate Raul Fernandez late in the race to claim his first premier-class victory. The 22-year-old became the first Japanese rider to win in the premier class in 22 years, since Makoto Tamada’s 2004 Japanese Grand Prix triumph. Fernandez finished second, 2.004 seconds behind, completing Trackhouse’s first 1-2 in a grand prix a day after the team locked out the top two in the sprint. Pole-sitter Jorge Martin was passed on the closing laps and took third, producing an all-Aprilia podium.
The result moved Martin to the top of the standings, seven points ahead of Aprilia teammate Marco Bezzecchi. Bezzecchi crashed out on lap two, losing a championship-leading position, and was later taken to hospital for further checks; Aprilia said he was conscious with no major physical or neurological damage. Behind, Ducati’s Marc Marquez slipped from sixth to seventh after a track-limits penalty, while KTM rider Pedro Acosta retired with a right-hand problem. Ogura closed to within 25 points of Martin.
