Ohio Highway Patrol seeks help in identifying driver in fatal Bethlehem Twp. hit-skip crash
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is asking for public help to identify the driver in a fatal hit-skip crash on Hudson Drive SW in Bethlehem Township in May. Gregory Cutcher, 79, and Janet Ellis, 69—both of Navarre—had stopped to help remove a tree blocking the road on May 23. While they stood near the tree, an unknown eastbound vehicle struck it, pushing it into them, and then failed to stop. Cutcher suffered life-threatening injuries and died May 28 at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital. Ellis was taken to Aultman Hospital with serious injuries, while Dustin Sweet, 21, of Canton, was treated for minor injuries at the scene. Investigators believe the fleeing car was a small, light-colored four-door sedan or SUV and are reviewing video and debris.
