One of Britain's Greatest Sports Cars Ever Just Got an Overhaul That We Didn't Know It Needed

The Jaguar XJ220, one of Britain’s most storied sports cars, has been given an overhaul led by Ian Callum, the designer behind several recent Jaguar models. After leaving JLR in 2019, Callum founded Callum Designs, and its latest project is a 2026 GT1 design study that reworks the XJ220’s bodywork for a modern interpretation. The concept adds monoblock-style wheels inspired by the original’s dish-like alloys, along with redesigned front and rear fascias with aerodynamics in mind. Finished in vivid yellow, it also retains 1990s cues such as wide-span, multi-element taillights. Callum says it is meant as a tribute rather than a production plan, though he suggested he would work on a GT1 if an owner donated their personal XJ220. Produced from 1992 to 1994, the original built 282 cars after near 300 deposits.
