Our grief is not raw material' for Husted Senate ad, family says in call for ad's removal

A central Ohio family is asking for a U.S. Senate campaign ad for Republican Sen. Jon Husted to be removed after the spot prominently used their images and the details of a fatal crash. The National Senate Republican Committee ad features Lynnea, Luke, and 1-year-old Logan Soposki, killed in an April multi-vehicle crash in Delaware County, Delaware. Authorities said Modou F. Ngom, a Columbus tractor-trailer driver, rear-ended the Soposkis’ vehicle, pushing it into other cars and across multiple lanes. The ad also includes claims about immigration tied to former Sen. Sherrod Brown, alongside accident footage and a photo the family says was taken by a friend without permission. The family says it never agreed to the use and argues their grief is being repurposed for political messaging; the ad cycle ended but it remains on the NRSC’s YouTube page.
