Park your Kia Telluride outside: Seat fire risk returns after failed 2024 repair

Kia is again recalling Telluride SUVs after an earlier 2024 repair did not fully address a potential fire risk linked to the front power-seat system. Kia will recall 462,869 Telluride SUVs for a front power-seat defect that the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says could lead to a fire; affected vehicles were built from January 9, 2019, through May 29, 2024, covering 2020–2024 model years. Owners are instructed to park affected vehicles outside and away from homes, garages, and other structures until dealers complete the updated remedy. The article says Tellurides built starting May 30, 2024 include a reinforced power-seat switch mechanism and are not included, and models with manual front seats are also excluded. Kia previously issued a June 2024 recall (NHTSA 24V407) for bracket installation and seat-slide knob replacement, but NHTSA determined dealers did not always install the bracket correctly; the updated recall is NHTSA 26V430 (SC374).
