Passing car narrowly misses Bedford student at bus stop, Monroe County deputies say
xCruzo Brief
A Bedford Township schoolchild narrowly avoided being hit after a driver failed to stop for a stopped bus near Douglas Road, Monroe County deputies said. The incident occurred Wednesday at about 4:05 p.m., when a Bedford Public Schools bus stopped to drop off a student. With the bus northbound and its red lights flashing and stop arm activated, a blue Chevrolet Malibu heading southbound did not slow down and passed the vehicle, coming within inches of striking the student, deputies said. Investigators used Flock license plate readers in Michigan and Ohio, along with security video from the bus, to identify the driver as a 19-year-old man from Toledo, Ohio. The prosecutor’s office will review potential charges.
