PHOTOS: SUV rolls into Cheat Lake after hillside gives way

A SUV accident into Cheat Lake, West Virginia, happened after a hillside gave way, sending the vehicle into the water. Multiple agencies responded on Wednesday following the crash in the Backwaters area of Cheat Lake. A Facebook post by the Granville Police Department said that on July 1, the driver pulled over to let another vehicle pass when the hillside collapsed, causing the SUV to roll about 30 feet into the lake. The driver exited the vehicle on their own and suffered only minor injuries. Photos from the scene show the SUV in the water and a tow truck pulling it up the slope. The Granville Fire & Police Dive Team, the West Virginia State Police, and Doug’s Towing were involved.
