Jeremy Clarkson’s review of the Volvo ES90 highlighted two modern-tech gripes that many drivers associate with today’s infotainment-first design. Clarkson, the 66-year-old former Top Gear and The Grand Tour co-host, gave the car three out of five stars but flagged the absence of basic physical controls and a key-card-only access system. The ES90, not launched in the U.S., pairs a 92 kWh battery with a claimed 398-mile range and 338 bhp, and costs £77,260 (about $103,000). Clarkson said he had to reprogram the “vast brain” to adjust volume and received warnings that he seemed distracted. He also reported the card failed to open the car after a meeting, requiring up to 14 attempts, plus a “No key detected” message.
