Qatar MotoGP: Yamaha withdraw from race - could there be implications for Formula 1?
Yamaha withdrew from the Qatar MotoGP after the conflict in the Middle East continued, with the race at Lusail International Circuit scheduled for 6–8 November. The event had been postponed from April. MotoGP says it will go ahead despite reports that 19 of 22 riders signed a letter raising concerns about racing in Qatar amid the US–Israeli war posture involving Iran. Yamaha said it has “not identified sufficient grounds” to change its company-wide travel restrictions and noted the Japanese government’s advice against non-essential travel. MotoGP said it is “disappointed,” arguing the assurances it received from Qatar and independent safety advisors support current plans. It also warned Yamaha of “sporting implications,” while Honda and Pramac Racing are still set to compete.
