Rare Light Green 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster With Camoradi Racing Roots Heads To The Quail

At Broad Arrow Auctions' 2026 Quail sale, a 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster stands out as rare as it is storied. Finished in Light Green Metallic over green leather, it is one of just 15 Roadsters delivered in this color, with an estimated value of $1.5 to $1.8 million. The data card notes a Paris order for U.S.-market equipment, a matching green top, and an optional Becker Mexico radio, with delivery in late May 1958 for summer open-top motoring. Authorities confirm its color rarity and matching-numbers status across major components. The car’s provenance centers on Lloyd Casner’s Camoradi USA, whose team included Moss, Gurney, Shelby, and Gregory, and who won the 1960 Nurburg 1000 Kms before Casner’s 1965 death. The Roadster later passed to Col. Gerald Sack, who kept it 41 years, before restoration by Rudi Koniczek in 2007 restored it to factory specs. The Feldhorn family acquired it in 2010, returning it to concours prominence with first-in-class wins at The Quail and other West Coast events.
