Hall, 44, posted the tribute on Instagram on Tuesday, July 21, saying she was devastated and that Hottle would be missed. In the movies, Hottle played Jia, a deaf character adopted by Hall’s Dr. Ilene Andrews, communicating with King Kong through sign language. Hottle’s father, Joshua Hottle, told TMZ she died in a car accident in Maryland and said he was flying from Texas to claim her body. The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office confirmed authorities responded to a fatal single-vehicle collision in Ijamsville at 2:52 a.m. Tuesday, citing a 1995 Honda Accord that left the roadway and struck a culvert, with excessive speed believed to be a factor.
