Renault swings to profit in first half despite intense Chinese competition

Renault swung back to profit in the first half of 2026 despite intense competition from expanding Chinese brands, Reuters reported on July 29 in Paris. The French automaker said revenue rose to 30.25 billion euros ($34.43 billion), up 9.4% from 27.64 billion euros in the same period of 2025. Net profit reached 700 million euros, compared with an 11.14 billion euro loss a year earlier. Analysts expected revenue of 29.4 billion euros and net profit of 770 million euros for the six-month period. Renault attributed the turnaround to a sharp rise in electric vehicle sales, even as pricing pressure remained.
