Residents in one Bradford ward go to polls today - Who is standing and where to vote?
Residents in Bradford’s Idle and Thackley ward are voting today to fill three council seats, with polling open from 7am to 10pm. The ward’s election was postponed in May after the death of longtime Liberal Democrat Councillor Jeanette Sunderland, who had been seeking re-election. Sunderland’s daughter, former councillor Rachel Sunderland, is standing in place of her late mother. The district-wide election had already seen 29 of Bradford’s 30 wards elect councillors in early May, making Idle and Thackley a late but consequential contest. Polling stations include St John’s Community Church on Harrogate Road, the Mobile Station car park at The George on Leeds Road, Wright Watson Enterprise Centre in Thorp Garth, Idle; Blakehill Extra Club at Blakehill Primary School, Highfield Road; Holy Trinity Church Hall, Town Lane; Thackley Methodist Church Hall, Thackley Road; and Thackley Cricket Club, Ainsbury Avenue, Thackley.
