Ross Gerber Says Slate Auto Is What Happens When 'Top Tesla And Amazon' Execs Build An EV, Predicts Buyer
Ross Gerber used Slate Auto as an example of what happens when “top Tesla and Amazon” executives build an EV, predicting buyers will embrace the company’s truck. In posts on X, the investor said Slate’s retail EV truck platform is “fully customizable,” with a base price of $25,000. He pointed to multiple customization options, calling them “never done before” in the auto industry, and referenced what he described as a new approach to selling and servicing vehicles. Gerber highlighted the base version, “blank Slate,” offering 205 miles of range on a single charge. He also said Slate has nearly 180,000 reservations and plans for annual production capacity of 150,000 units. The post coincided with rising U.S. EV sales estimates from Cox Automotive and Goldman Sachs views on EVs reducing global oil demand.
