Sallaum Lines orders two next-generation 8,600 CEU car carriers

Sallaum Lines has ordered two next-generation 8,600 CEU car carriers, the largest vessels in the company's history. The contracts, signed with Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. (XSI), cover two firm ships under a 2 + 2 arrangement. Each vessel measures 199.90 meters long, with a 38-meter beam and five liftable decks to optimize cargo, from cars to heavy equipment.

The ships will operate on LNG, VLSFO, and MGO and are ammonia-ready for future conversion. This order supports Sallaum Lines' sustainability push, including LNG-powered vessels and anti-fouling. It reinforces growth on core routes across Europe, the Americas, Africa, and the Middle East as regulators push toward lower emissions.
