Second fatal Route 22 crash in a month kills South River motorcyclist
A second deadly crash in a month on Route 22 near Bridge Street killed a South River motorcyclist Saturday evening, according to police. The collision occurred at about 8:31 p.m. June 27 in the eastbound lanes, where authorities said a Nissan sedan veered into the lane of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The Nissan driver and passenger reported no injuries, and police have not released names for either the rider or the sedan occupants. The Somerset County Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team and the Bridgewater Police Department Traffic Safety Unit are investigating. The report notes the fatal crash followed another deadly incident less than a month earlier on the same stretch: on May 31, a 91-year-old man from Bridgewater was killed after a chain reaction involving a Tesla that stopped abruptly, a Subaru Outback that stopped, and a Buick that struck the Subaru’s rear.
