Sheldahl mayor killed in motorcycle crash 'died doing what he loved'

Todd Anderson, 61, mayor de Sheldahl, Iowa, was killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Iowa Highway 141 near Polk City at about 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22. The Des Moines Register reports that Anderson was riding his 2019 Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special in Billiard Blue, nicknamed his “Blue Bagger,” during a late-summer ride with friends and his wife, Kathy Anderson, 59. According to Kathy, they chose backroads “because they’re more fun.” She said a friend performed CPR until first responders arrived. Todd sustained multiple blunt force injuries, including head trauma, a broken neck and back, and internal injuries. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 28, and funeral services for Saturday, Aug. 29.
