Sony Goes Big on the WH-1000XM6 Like Margins No Longer Matter for Its Latest Flagship Headphones
Sony is pushing its WH-1000XM6 to prime Prime Day pricing, positioning the new flagship wireless noise-canceling headphones against Apple and Bose with a $398 launch-equivalent street price. The deal was reported as a record-low at Amazon, where the XM6 is listed at $398. Sony targets competitors’ top tier with claims of best-in-class active noise canceling and up to 30 hours of battery life. The XM6 adds foldability for easier storage compared with the prior XM5. Sony says its HD Noise Canceling Processor QN3 is seven times faster than the QN1 used in the XM5 and coordinates 12 microphones to counter external noise in real time. It also upgrades the call system with six-microphone AI beamforming that isolates the user’s voice, filters background sound, and addresses wind resistance. The article also highlights driver development with mastering engineers and support for LDAC and High-Resolution Audio Wireless.
